Well, I have always said Obama has a narcissist personality disorder. The perfect disorder for someone that wants to be a dictator and not a president of a Republic!

Santorum compares Romney to Obama in new TV ad

By Catalina Camia, USA TODAY
Updated 1d ago
Rick Santorum attacks Mitt Romney as being no different than President Obama in a new ad released on the eve of the Wisconsin primary.
By Jae C. Hong, AP
The ad takes an image of Obama and morphs it into Romney, as it makes the claim that the GOP front-runner is the same as the president on issues such as health care, Wall Street bailouts, taxes, and "cap and trade" legislation to reduce carbon emissions.
INTERACTIVE:  Political ad tracker
The ad is scheduled to run in Wisconsin, which votes tomorrow, and Pennsylvania, which holds its primary on April 24.
Wisconsin polls show Romney with a comfortable lead and the former Massachusetts governor is closing the gap on Santorum in Pennsylvania, where his rival was a U.S. senator.
The TV ad plays on a theme Santorum outlined in an op-ed column this morning in USA TODAY, in which the GOP presidential candidate slams "ObamaRomneyCare" and explains his plan that would allow Americans to buy health insurance with pre-tax dollars.
Santorum repeatedly has made the point that Romney is not a good choice to be the GOP nominee because he does not offer a contrast to Obama on key issues, particularly health care.

We progressed under Obama: wrongly and poorly with incurring more debt!

No concession on the $1.2 trillion increase, because we do not have the growth to permit that kind of spending, and no extension of the payroll tax, as it is considered regularly budgeted revenue.

The only concession we can give at this time is $751 billion for domestic spending only; Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid etc. We have not had the job growth or revenue increase, and we will not agree to anything without adhering to a $2.5 trillion annual budget revenue and a debt plan for the next 10yrs. that pays $1.2 trillion annually on the deficit, cutting the defense budget in half for peace time economy, to $500 billion for defense/maintenance.

Obama failed to write a collectively agreed upon budget plan, and HJRES98 http://docs.house.gov/billsthisweek/20120116/BILLS-112hjres98ih_xml.pdf concurred on Obama's Impeachment Order effective 1/1/12, that Obama must stop misappropriating and raising the debt limit.

To all people of various faiths:

May I call to your remembrance that our Nation has lost its way under Obama:

I am in full agreement with Rick Santorum that Obama has “some phony theology” not based on the Bible. We have all seen his disregard of our Constitution, how there is no amendment for him to remain in Office as a non-citizen, and how he exploits his political ties and money relationships for an agenda contrary to our values and beliefs, attacking the very foundation of our country!! This was poignantly seen when Obama refused to honor his Oath to the Catholic Church and those he served regarding H.R. 4872 and the language of other health care bills, in refusing to relinquish the legislation that he has no power to enforce anyway, when he staged an attempt to dominate and dictate to the Catholic Church.... it backfired on him:

NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF THE CATHOLIC VOTE: people of various faiths have come out against Obama for crossing the line, forcing religious entities to violate conscience to fund abortifaceants and other birth control methods, when this money could be better served to support general wellness of the poor, not elective coverage costs. While most believed Obama to be genuine and that the DNC had chosen a legitimate, eligible alternative to Bush Jr. who would end war, they soon discovered that their vote was wasted and their lack of involvement on waiting for Obama to pan out ruined our Nation, drawing us farther away from God's agenda! Obama breaking his Oath, along with the rule of law not being upheld, especially when it comes to guaranteed constitutional freedoms and religious liberties has built the wall of prayer to prepare for this siege, and they're selecting Rick Santorum to carry the banner of their values and beliefs to new Presidential policies:

Bain & Company Profile & Stats

Bain & Company is one of the biggest and most respected names in consulting. Yet from the beginning, Bainies (as they’re known in the industry) aimed to do things a little differently from their competitors. The firm bases its fees on the financial results it achieves for its clients, acquiring contracts through word-of-mouth referrals, and following the belief that consultants should deliver ‘results, not reports’. Known for its work on everything from M&A to private equity investments, Boston headquartered Bain & Company employs over 5,000 in 42 offices, across 27 different countries.

The London office was established in 1979, and services a large range of corporate clients – more than 40% of the FTSE 100, in fact. In addition to the London branch, the firm has spread its wings across the Continent, setting up shop in Amsterdam, Brussels, Düsseldorf, Madrid, Milan, Munich, Paris, Rome, Stockholm and Zurich. Bain now has more offices in Europe than in any other region; the upshot of which being more revenue comes from its Continental operations than either the North American or Asian markets.

That said, Bain is not satisfied with leaving the rest of the globe untapped. Like its consulting peers, Bain has been targeting booming areas, such as India and the Middle East, for business. But unlike its competitors, the firm is specifically targeting strategy work, rather than limiting its Indian offerings to outsourcing.

When Bill Bain left the Boston Consulting Group in 1973, he took with him a number of consultants and clients to found Bain & Company. Starting out as a three person operation in his basement, the company grew quickly, expanding into the UK market only six years later. By 1983, the firm had begun investing in its own clients and soon after began a policy of accepting equity as part of its compensation with its PE clients. In 1984, Bain Capital was launched as a spin off, and currently holds over $50 billion in assets, having invested in more than 250 companies. It is a completely separate company to Bain & Co and shares neither governance nor ownership.

In 1994, Bain became the first consulting company to establish a private equity practice. It is currently the market leader, having worked on more than half of all US and European private equity transactions worth over $1 billion in the last 10 years. This hugely successful practice provides clients – mostly leveraged buyout firms and hedge funds – with fund strategy, sector screening and deal generation, due diligence, portfolio company performance improvement and exit planning. Bain has, in part, these over performing clients to thank for its strong reputation: its clients have historically outperformed the stock market 4 to 1... at least until now! So not to rest on its laurels, Bain also implemented a clever brand reinvention strategy to help it gain greater name recognition.

Around 50% of Bain’s clients are featured among the Global 2000; the remaining are mostly private equity, small and mid-sized companies. The firm’s diverse clients hail from numerous industries, spanning aerospace and defence, automotive, consumer products, energy and utilities, financial services, health care, industrial products, media, non-profit, retail, technology, telecommunications and transportation, and include a mix of multinational firms and global companies.

Not to be out done in the altruistic stakes, Bain founded the affiliate the Bridgespan Group, in 2000, to customise management strategy approaches for non-profit clients, such as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Diabetes UK, Save the Children and the UCLA Johnson Cancer Centre Foundation. Around 15% of Bain’s staff rotate into Bridgespan for 6 month periods to gain experience in the sector.

In London, community support is encouraged, with an integrated community involvement programme, Bain Cares, which provides strategic and operational advice to Business Action on homelessness. Additionally, staffers take part in educational efforts in local schools by tutoring and mentoring students, planting trees, painting homeless shelters etc. And twice a year, the firm holds a ‘community impact day’, during which all employees participate in some form of community work.

Mr. Obama:
I have had it with you and your administration, sir. Your conduct on your recent trip overseas has convinced me that you are not an adequate representative of the United States of America collectively or of me personally.

You are so obsessed with appeasing the Europeans and the Muslim world that you have abdicated the responsibilities of the President of the United States of America . You are responsible to the citizens of the United States . You are not responsible to the peoples of any other country on earth.

I personally resent that you go around the world apologizing for the United States telling Europeans that we are arrogant and do not care about their status in the world. Sir, what do you think the First World War and the Second World War were all about if not the consideration of the peoples of Europe ? Are you brain dead? What do you think the Marshall Plan was all about? Do you not understand or know the history of the 20th century?

Where do you get off telling a Muslim country that the United States does not consider itself a Christian country? Have you not read the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution of the United States ? This country was founded on Judeo-Christian ethics and the principles governing this country, at least until you came along, come directly from this heritage. Do you not understand this?

Your bowing to the king of Saudi Arabia is an affront to all Americans. Our President does not bow down to anyone, let alone the king of Saudi Arabia .... You didn't show Great Britain , our best and one of our oldest allies, the respect they deserve yet you bow down to the king of Saudi Arabia .. How dare you, sir! How dare you!

You can't find the time to visit the graves of our greatest generation because you don't want to offend the Germans but make time to visit a mosque in Turkey ...... You offended our dead and every veteran when you give the Germans more respect than the people who saved the German people from themselves. What's the matter with you? I am convinced that you and the members of your administration have the historical and intellectual depth of a mud puddle and should be ashamed of yourselves, all of you.

You are so self-righteously offended by the big bankers and the American automobile manufacturers yet do nothing about the real thieves in this situation, Mr. Dodd, Mr. Frank, Franklin Raines, Jamie Gorelic, the Fannie Mae bonuses, and the Freddie Mac bonuses. What do you intend to do about them? Anything? I seriously doubt it.

What about the U.S. House members passing out $9.1 million in bonuses to their staff members on top of the $2.5 million in automatic pay raises that lawmakers gave themselves? I understand the average House aide got a 17% bonus. I took a 5% cut in my pay to save jobs with my employer. You haven't said anything about that. Who authorized that? I surely didn't!

Executives at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will be receiving $210 million in bonuses over an eighteen-month period, that's $45 million more than the AIG bonuses. In fact, Fannie and Freddie executives have already been awarded $51 million not a bad take. Who authorized that and why haven't you expressed your outrage at this group who are largely responsible for the economic mess we have right now?

I resent that you take me and my fellow citizens as brain-dead and not caring about what you idiots do. We are watching what you are doing and we are getting increasingly fed up with all of you.

I also want you to know that I personally find just about everything you do and say to be offensive to every one of my sensibilities. I promise you that I will work tirelessly to see that you do not get a chance to spend two terms destroying my beautiful country.

Sincerely,

Every real American

OBAMA CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTION FRAUD CONTINUES: DONOR ADOLF HITLER, 123 NUREMBURG WAY, BERLIN, GERMANY

I donated as Don Corleone -- $2.00 (they wouldn't let me contribute $1.00, it had to be at least two bucks). Don Corleone, 666 Godfather Way, Sleeps with the Fishes, NY, 10001. Email: omerta@gmail.com

Back in 2008, I broke numerous campaign stories on the millions of dollars in illegal contributions that Obama received. It was meticuloulsy documented in my book, The Post-American Presidency: The Obama Administration's War on America. Also, check out my article in The American Thinker, "Obama's Foreign Donors: The media averts its eyes." It was feckless, reckless and lawless. Worse, Obama got away with it. All of it.
Atlas broke the story of tens of thousands of dollars coming in from Hamas-controlled Gaza, millions coming in from Muslim countries, and imaginary Obama contributors: "Good Will," "Loving you," "Doo da DooDa" and gibberish donors ....

Credit card fraud was rampant, with John Galt, Saddam Hussein, Osama Bin Laden, and Bill Ayers all making contributions. A number of Atlas readers and FB friends have advised me that the credit card fraud is in full swing again. Adrian Murray went to barackobama.com and donated $3 using the name Adolph Hitler, 123 Nuremburg Way, Berlin, Germany, and for good measure put in Dictator of Nazi Party as employer. Got an email back saying Dear Adolph, Thank you for your generous donation….
Because the Obama campaign does not require the CVV 3-digit security code for credit card charges, anyone can donate to Obama’s campaign from anywhere.
The media, in its continuing act of perfidy and criminally corrupt silence, says nothing, does nothing and refuses to report on these blatant election fraud abuses. And it's happening again. Now.
Tom Blumer reports here: Top Obama Bundler Accused of Fraud; Obama Campaign Disables Credit Card Verification System (Again)
AP spins it as “See, Obama is so transparent that we actually know when his fundraisers get accused of crimes.”
The New York donor, Abake Assongba, and her husband contributed more than $50,000 to Obama’s re-election effort this year, federal records show. But Assongba is also fending off a civil court case in Florida, where she’s accused of thieving more than $650,000 to help build a multimillion-dollar home in the state — a charge her husband denies.
Obama is the only presidential contender this year who released his list of “bundlers,” the financiers who raise campaign money by soliciting high-dollar contributions from friends and associates. But that disclosure has not come without snags; his campaign returned $200,000 last month to Carlos and Alberto Cardona, the brothers of a Mexican fugitive wanted on federal drug charges.
The Obama campaign is not transparent. It may not even be fundraising within the law. At the other end of the Obama campaign’s fundraising, the low dollar donation end they have been emphasizing and using to raffle off dates with the president, they have apparently switched off the credit card address verification system again. Adrian Murray posted this on facebook, on March 31.
The fraud continues. Just went to barackobama.com and donated $3 using the name Adolph Hitler, 123 Nuremburg Way, Berlin, Germany and for good measure put in Dictator of Nazi Party as employer. Got an email back saying Dear Adolph, Thank you for your generous donation….
The point? To prevent credit card fraud, merchants require that the address match what the credit card issuer has on file. Called the Address Verification System (AVS), an additional layer of protection requires the three digitsecurity code. The Obama team has disabled the AVS so anyone anywhere in the world can anonymously donate to his campaign, thereby exceeding campaign donation limits and violating federal finance laws. They pulled the same stunt in 2008, but the media wouldn’t report it.
The Obama campaign switched the AVS off in 2008, and the MSM never called them on it. Murray followed up by trying the same trick with two of the Republican candidates’ web sites:
I then went to the Romney and Santorum websites and tried the same thing. Both rejected the donations with a message that the address could not be verified as belonging to the card holder.
Try it. Make up a name and an address and donate to Obama. Then try it with the other two. Only Obama will accept the donation.
Disabling the AVS system has to be done intentionally. According to Adrian Murray, it has been done on the Obama campaign web site — again.

More than 200 immigration fugitives and convicted illegal immigrants were arrested in North Texas and Oklahoma last week as part of a nationwide operation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, federal officials announced Monday.
In all, agents took into custody more than 3,100 criminals nationwide last week in the operation that included every state, many of them with multiple criminal convictions including murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, drug trafficking, child abuse, sexual crimes against minors and aggravated assault.
Of the 2,834 convicted illegal immigrants arrested, 50 were gang members and 149 were convicted sex offenders, according to the ICE news release.
    Some of those arrested included:
Veasna Uy, 34, a Cambodia national who was living in Long Beach, Calif., was an immigration fugitive convicted on April 5, 2000 of manslaughter, attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.
Jose Angel Duran-Ramos, 66, of Mexico, who had been living in El Paso, was convicted of murder on July 10, 1984 and sentenced to 18 years in prison.
In the North Texas and Oklahoma area, a few of the arrests included a 32-year-old Pakistan man in Watauga on March 25 who had been convicted of kidnapping. On that same day, a 33-year-old man from Mexico was arrested in Tulsa, Okla. with convictions of illegally carrying a loaded firearm, possessing cocaine and grand larceny.
On March 29, a 52-year-old man from Mexico was arrested in Dallas who had been convicted of sexual assault.
The six-day operation called "Cross Check" involved more than 1,900 ICE agents. It was the third such operation for the federal agency which conducted its first in December 2009. Before last week, the last operation was in September and ended with agents arresting 2, 901 convicted illegal immigrants.

Lawmakers bringing end to session in election year
    Mar 29, 2012 4:56pm Email Print Facebook
ATLANTA (AP) — State lawmakers voted Thursday to overhaul Georgia's criminal sentencing laws in the hope of controlling growing prison costs, while the General Assembly was still debating dozens of remaining bills including measures to cut unemployment benefits and ban picketing at homes on the last day of its annual session.
House lawmakers voted 162-0 without debate to approve legislation sought by Republican Gov. Nathan Deal that is supposed to steer more nonviolent offenders into rehabilitation instead of prison. The provision would raise the monetary threshold for most theft crimes, require most people — though not clergy — to report suspected child abuse and restrict who can gain access to a jobseeker's criminal record.
Money is a key motivator for changing the criminal laws. The state's prison population has more than doubled in the last two decades to more than 56,000 inmates and costs about $1 billion annually. Spending on prisons limits the state's ability to spend money on other priorities as Georgia slowly recovers from a deep recession.
Lawmakers also sent to Deal a bill that would fund new charter schools created by the state government. Voters must decide in a November referendum whether to change the state constitution so state officials can approve the creation of charter schools even if local officials object.
Still unresolved was whether lawmakers would approve a ban on picketing outside homes. The original bill from Sen. Don Balfour, R-Snellville, would have banned labor unions from holding those pickets. Late Tuesday, Rep. Wendell Willard, R-Sandy Springs, amended the bill to remove the reference to labor unions because he said targeting a specific class of people — in this case, organized labor — would be unconstitutional.
House lawmakers initially put the picketing ban on their calendar for the second-to-last day of their session but never voted on it. It remained unclear Thursday whether lawmakers would vote on the bill.
Balfour said people should have a right to privacy at home and that his bill would not stop unions from picketing businesses.
Anti-abortion activists, Occupy Atlanta protesters and the Georgia Tea Party Patriots are among the opponents who lined up against the bill, saying it is unnecessary and could curtail their free speech rights. The bill would also force unions to annually seek permission to deduct union dues from their members' paychecks.
"It's really big government of the worst kind," said Eric Robertson, political director of Teamsters Local 728, which represents about 7,000 workers. "Republicans are often talking about how they're against big government, but in this particular case they're just willing to interfere in the private sector."
People involved in tax disputes with Georgia officials could take the cases to a specialized tax tribunal under legislation adopted by lawmakers. Rep. Allen Peake, R-Macon, said the new court will allow judges to specialize in tax law and result in better, more consistent rulings.

    • THE PROBLEM IS, THESE CHEMICALS ARE REALLY LIKE PERFUMING AGENTS. ANYONE WHO KNOWS THAT WOULD NOT SMOKE NATURAL TOBACCO OR MARIJUANA DOUSED WITH PERFUME, BUT THAT IS WHAT FAKE POT IS.

Georgia Governor Signs Law Making Synthetic Marijuana Illegal in State

Written by: James Swift on Apr 3, 2012
inShareLast week, Georgia’s Governor, Republican Nathan Deal, signed into law a new bill that makes all forms of synthetic marijuana illegal within the state, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Under the new law, synthetic marijuana substances, commonly referred to as Spice orK2, are considered Schedule I drugs, making their possession and sale a crime punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
Deal said he applauds the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) and the Georgia General Assembly for quickly putting the legislation together, calling the passage of the law “a pressing need” for the state.
“These synthetic substances pose an enormous risk to our public safety,” Deal said shortly after signing the law. “As the usage has dramatically increased, instances of violence, bodily harm and even death have risen with it.”
Georgia Bureau of Investigation Director Vernon Keenan told reporters the GBI is currently instructing law enforcement officials to notify local retailers that synthetic marijuana substances are illegal, urging them to destroy the products under officer supervision. Retailers that do not comply may have their inventory seized and face possible prosecution.
The state banned synthetic marijuana in 2010, but many manufacturers were able to circumvent the law by slightly modifying their product formulas.
Most synthetic marijuana products contain a chemical compound that mimics the effects of marijuana, which is combined with various forms of dried vegetation. Prior to the passage of the new law, products of the sort were legally sold by many Georgia retailers, primarily at gas stations and convenience stores.
Synthetic marijuana products are currently illegal in several states, including New York, Illinois and Oregon.
In 2011, the Drug Enforcement Administration reclassified several synthetic compound substances as Schedule I drugs. According to DEA Administrator Michele M. Leonhart, there is a need to regulate and control such substances even further.
“Young people are being harmed when they smoke these dangerous ‘fake pot’ products and wrongly equate the products’ ‘legal’ retail availability with being ‘safe’,” she stated in an official news release last year.

    The Senate Adjourns

    By: Sen. Bill Hamrick (R-Carrollton)
The 2012 Legislative Session of the Georgia General Assembly adjourned at midnight on Thursday, March 29. It was a moment of celebration that closed months of hard work at the Capitol and one of the longest days of the 40 day period.
Although the Senate has adjourned until next January, our work as elected officials will not stop. Throughout the rest of the year, I will continue to research issues of importance and meet with constituents about their concerns in both the district and the entire state.
In January, the Senate Majority Party announced five areas of focus during the 2012 legislative session. These areas embodied the principles of responsible spending, putting Georgians back to work and providing students with a quality education. While not all of our efforts succeeded, I am very pleased with the number of bills that are now on the way to the Governor’s desk for his signature. This is legislation that will ultimately put Georgia on the road to economic recovery and contribute to the success of our state.
    Limited Government
During this year’s session, the Senate worked hard to reduce the overall size and scope of state government, especially as it pertains to the overall productivity of Georgia’s state-run programs. To further support these goals, the Senate adopted HB 456, also known as the Georgia Government Accountability Act. Similar to the Senate’s version, this legislation provides a mechanism to determine the continued need of state-run programs through the creation of the Legislative Sunset Advisory Committee. The passage of this historic legislation provides a clear solution for efficient government operations and also helps maximize every taxpayer dollar.
    Pro-Business Tax Reform
One of the most important things Georgia can do to attract businesses and promote job creation is revise our tax structure into one that spurs private-sector growth and welcomes investment in our state. In the final days of the 2012 Legislative Session, the Senate passed HB 386 – a comprehensive tax reform package projected to offer Georgia businesses and taxpayers nearly $262 million in tax savings over the next three years.
In order to see continued growth and get more Georgians back to work, it was imperative to revise Georgia’s antiquated tax code by removing the tax levied on manufacturing facilities, an estimated savings of approximately $150 million per year. As a result, Georgia will become even more attractive to businesses seeking to relocate or expand their operations.
This common sense legislation also kept Georgia families in mind by reducing the burden of the marriage penalty in the state income tax, eliminating the birthday tax, and bringing back the tax holiday for school supplies. The passage of HB 386 is a tremendous victory for both Georgia’s businesses and families, and is a clear indication that Georgia is moving forward with the times.
    21st Century Education Reform
21st century education reform was one of our greatest legislative priorities this session.  Our classrooms and our communities are poised to thrive due in large part to a variety of bills passed dealing with how our children learn and how we support our valuable educators. With the passage of charter schools amendment, HR 1162, Georgians will have the opportunity to vote to approve this measure in November. HR 1162 defines a state charter school in the State Constitution, provides that a state charter school must be public, nonsectarian, nonreligious, and nonprofit, and regulates that the state is not allowed to divert funding from the local school district.
We also addressed the need for technological advancement in our classrooms. SB 289 requires local school systems to offer virtual instruction programs to enable students to use online and distance learning in nontraditional classrooms. The bill also requires high school students to complete at least one of these online learning courses.
Parents will be empowered with extensive knowledge on progress made by school system due to the passage of SB 410. The bill adopts indicators of quality of learning by students, financial efficiency, and school climate for individual schools and school systems. The legislation assigns a numerical score rating for individual schools and school systems based on student achievement, achievement gap closure, and student progress. It also requires that a letter grade be assigned to each school and school system, and that grades are included on each school system’s annual report card.
The Senate also took necessary steps to support our valuable educators. SB 184 prohibits local school boards from implementing a policy that allows length of teaching time to be a main factor when reducing staff. Similarly, SB 153 requires that written documentation be provided to teachers, administrators, and contract employees who have been terminated or suspended only for financial reasons, specifying such as the reason for their termination or suspension. Though economic times have reached into every community, every business, and effected every profession- especially our educators. It is an unfortunate circumstance when an educator must be terminated or suspended due to no fault of their own, and we are doing everything in our power to help clear the path for future employment.
    Fiscal Responsibility
Now more than ever, the Georgia General Assembly must take great strides to eliminate government waste and reduce expenditures. Government operations are funded by taxpayer dollars, and the Senate Majority Party drafted legislation in 2012 to ensure the continued financial responsibility of our state and to urge the federal government to adopt more fiscally sound policy. The Georgia legislature concluded the 2012 session by passing a $19.3 billion dollar budget, keeping in line with the state’s commitment to pass balanced budget legislation each year. Georgia’s economy will be better positioned to grow, create more jobs and get more Georgians back to work.
In addition, the passage of SB 33 will assist in the legislature’s efforts to control state spending and maximize every taxpayer dollar. This zero-based budgeting bill will require the thorough re-evaluation of all line items in the budget every ten years, with state agencies being rotated so that not all are subject to review at one time.
Although the State of Georgia requires the General Assembly to pass a balanced budget that does not allow for deficit spending each year, this fiscally responsible measure is not required by the federal government. As a result, our national debt at record numbers and keeps climbing higher.
The Senate passed SR 673 to petition Congress to call a Constitutional convention for the purpose of proposing a balanced budget amendment. The resolution recommends that the total of all federal appropriations made by the Congress for any fiscal year may not exceed that total of all estimated federal revenue for that fiscal year.
In a great show of bipartisan support, the Senate passed HB 1176, a comprehensive sentencing and corrections reform bill that will save Georgia taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars, improve public safety and lower recidivism rates
    Protecting Our Children
The children of Georgia are our state’s greatest asset, and their innocence and future potential needs to be fiercely protected. As adults, it is our responsibility to preserve the highest quality of life for all children—even those who are yet to be born. Under current law, some individuals are not ready to report a brutal crime against them as a child until he or she is well into adulthood. Therefore, the Senate introduced and passed SB 316 to extend the statute of limitations on reporting sexual crimes. The Senate also passed SB 355; legislation that extends the mandatory reporting requirement for child abuse beyond those directly responsible for the child’s care. These bills were ultimately incorporated into HB 1176—the criminal justice reform bill.
Although I will now be spending most of my time in District 30, I am still working on your behalf to ensure Georgia is a place for growth—for both business and families. Please be sure to keep up with me on my social media pages.

The man said, George wasn't really following him, he was looking for an address to tell he police. And Trayvon came up to him out of no where. Man c'mon with that BS. First off, if he head of the neighborhood watch he already know the damn address. Second off, on the 9-1-1 tape, he told the dispatcher to have the police call him when they arive, and third off, Trayvon got killed a straight line from his house, only 70 yrds on the backside. Anyone that real is real, a person that would appraoch a person bigger & older in a unfamiliar place and you have no weapon, would have stayed fighting in there hometown, we would have heard a whole lot more than just He got caught with an empty baggy of weed. #imjussayin, you dont have to be a rocket scientist to know that.

Aja Brooks So if Trayvon was selling weed at the high school, where was he getting the money from to buy the weed?? There were break-ins in the area, and why nut up on Zimmerman, why not just run like Trayvon's girlfriend told him to do? Sounds like to me he was resisting arrest. Does Zimmerman carry cuffs as a community officer? Even a gun toting officer has procedure to AVOID close contact with a suspect or perpetrator, especially when he has no back up whatsoever physically present at time of confrontation.

Aja Brooks Only on the part about what officer procedure is. It makes no sense to confront someone, especially a perpetrator or potential suspect, just because you have a gun.

Aja Brooks The family will have to pursue a civil case against Zimmerman, and the police report taken and evidence on record may not be enough to sue for damages, since there was not enough evidence to charge him thus far.

Oouchie DaBoss A real gangsta would have had a gun. And what he resisting arrest for, he didn't have anything. THey didn't find any stolen property in the house. Where did they say he was selling weed. He got caught with one empty baggy. That doesn't make you a drug dealer.

Aja Brooks Other news has reported since the ABC bungle about Zimmerman being white and Trayvon being the one who had a bloody nose and gashed head, that it was Zimmerman who sustained those injuries, and that Trayvon already had a colorful youth being caught for possession of weed at his high school. No an empty baggy indicates you are a pot smoker. So how did Trayvon have the money to buy weed if he wasn't working??

Oouchie DaBoss Oh he will be charged come April 10th when the grand jury meet. Aja Brooks I mean don't get me wrong, I can certainly think that skittles and sweet tea do indicate the pot smoking theory on Trayvon. That's a fact: just because there was no stolen property in the home doesn't mean there isn't at his friends' home with his Jr. Thug Hoodie Gang in-training. I want to know when the video was actually taken before I decide on JOR-GE'S claims. Also, you should never run if someone properly identifies them as a police officer. They have that authority, and if I did not know that JOR-GE' was the community oink-oink, then I'd have got the hell on, not got into a fist fight with him for sure. I definitely would stand my ground if I wasn't doing anything wrong though, and I wouldn't feel compelled to break out a can of whoop ass on someone I don't know. I do know this, if someone attacked me for no reason, they'd be dead and not the other way around.

Aja Brooks Just because you are a troubled youth doesn't mean you don't do good things, nor do I think you should die for an empty bag of weed. Yet that's not what we're talking about here. Aja Brooks Okay yeah he was when he was on one end of the complex, so JOR-GE' called the non-911 # at first, as he didn't know which address he was at, and then Trayvon kept moving. You can still follow a suspect without pursuing or directly confronting. Why was Trayvon paranoid or need to use his fists?

Aja Brooks Trayvon had weed at school, so it doesn't really matter if he had weed in his system or not because he and his friends were caught with it. No, I didn't know what the tape said, until you said coon. We all assumed it was the n-word. You can call someone an animal name and it not be a crime. A coon is a burglar, that's the animal behavior. Aja Brooks Okay good point: but Newt didn't grab at my weapon either. That is the police report statement. There would be no reason to arrest JOR-GE~ with Trayvon scrambling for the gun. If you are dipping around people's apartments, you could be scoping for a burglary. It wasn't the hoody that did it: it was the total package of disguising one's appearance, dipping off, and then going ape when confronted.

Aja Brooks Oh and there would be no blood spatter on JOR-GE~ if there was a struggle for the weapon, as JOR-GE~ would have had to have held Trayvon and discharge the weapon. There would be a hole about the size of an inch on the front of Trayvon, and 1-2 foot wound on the back of him.

Aja Brooks ‎@Shekinah I did watch the video: there is no surveillance video, just him coming in for questioning. I know you didn't say nothing: Oouchie said JOR-GE~ called Trayvon a 'coon' on the tape, when they played it on tv, they bleeped it out, so we assumed JOR-GE~ called Trayvon the n-word. Using the n-word would show that JOR-GE~ had racial hostility toward a black person he did not know personally. Yes the police report said that JOR-GE~ gave the statement Trayvon went for his gun. No, Trayvon had no reason to fear for his life or nut up on a community officer. Trayvon should've called 9-1-1 himself, but he was talking to his girl. The dispatcher told him to stop following because JOR-GE~ called him a coon, and JOR-GE~ called the non-emergency number first before calling 9-1-1 so they already had a dispatch. No Trayvon was not targeted for being black, but for being suspicious and acting like a burglar who was casing the place (hence the use of the term coon for burglar, because that's what racoons do in the wild, they steal.) JOR-GE~ is saying that he used the word GOON, not coon, which is type of gang member. JOR-GE~ does not have a violent history for racial crime, so I do not believe he became a community officer to systematically hunt coons. Or C-GOONS... the reason there was no arrest was because JOR-GE~ had his weapon grappled for, and Trayvon had contact with the officer.

Aja Brooks The fact is, no one has the police file in front of them, the witness statements, and the surveillance video: we're only seeing the one video of him being questioned and the reports that made it out like Trayon was the one who had the bloody nose and bashed head and then he was also shot with no weapon on him, just skittles and tea. What I'm saying is, that y'all are reacting only to what the Press has chosen to release. I did not come here to agree with you, I just want you to understand why it was that JOR-GE~ had not been arrested for it, and it had to do with the matter of the gun grappling supposedly in the report and statement he made. Now, when they examine the evidence, they will decide if that was true or not. If it is not true, they then have to pinpoint the evidence that makes JOR-GE~ guilty of perjury. That is 5yrs. for that charge, but if he passes a lie detector, it will be difficult to charge him with ANY criminal wrongdoing, without statements of eyewitness accounts saying that he was the aggressor on Trayvon.

Aja Brooks No Trayvon and Zimmerman both have no right to kill each other, period: when you have close contact with anyone, that can happen. That is why you are trained to avoid contact with anyone. Anytime anyone raises their hands in violence against someone, death can occur. The human body becomes a weapon, and especially with close contact it is hard to shield the body against critical and deadly injury to vital organs. Answer me why did Trayvon have any physical contact with the officer, whatsoever? Shekinah, I comprehend what you're saying, but I see no link of it. Furthermore bruising may not be immediate, but would happen over the next day or longer. Most likely the gash in the back of Zimmerman's head was from being scrubbed up on the ground. ABC is the one who reported it was Travyon who sustained physical injuries, in addition to gun shot, which is why we thought that there was excessive force and maybe an indication of crime of race aggravation of some sort. ABC did not clarify that it was Zimmerman who had the injuries and that his statement was that Trayvon jumped him for the gun. I think the whole movement is stupid: everyone is protesting something they don't know about. When a black person kills another black person, no one bats an eyelash. ABC makes it out that JOR-GE~ is white when he is clearly of a different ethnicity, and everyone hits the streets like this dude's head was covered with a pillow case.

Aja Brooks I did do my research, because what was reported verbally on tv did not add up so I checked written accounts of it: http://www.wnd.com/2012/03/witness-trayvon-martin-attacked-zimmerman/Furthermore, Trayvon is not an officer, and Trayvon would still have to explain if Zimmerman died why he had any contact with him as must be done anyway. The Florida law of no duty to retreat does not apply to Trayvon, as Trayvon had no duty (duty: community officer) and Trayvon had no reason to defend himself as he had not been attacked by Zimmerman. If Trayvon had reason to defend himself against attack, then Zimmerman would have been arrested. Which is why Zimmerman was not charged, and he was only questioned. Zimmerman cooperated with police and answered their questions. Trayvon did not call 9-1-1, he was on the phone with his girlfriend. If someone is following me, and I don't know that they're a community officer, I'm calling the cops.

Aja Brooks ‎@JenniferSims Because he is... would you feel better if I called him the community oink-oink, because I already did up there: the point is, if the police department there did not have him provide certification, he can not run around like a designated officer. I already said that there were 3 violations of protocol on this. The reason I feel the need to come here is because this is not a hate crime, the dude is NOT white, nor does race seem to be the motivation for his actions despite him calling him a C-GOON, or whatever he called him when he didn't refer to Trayvon by use of the n-word. If Trayvon had not had contact with Zimmerman though, we wouldn't be having this issue, of both of them sustaining injuries and Trayvon being killed. You can't go around and physically accost anyone, just because you feel threatened all the time. You can only attack someone in self-defense, not to one up or beat your chest. People say stuff to me online that they would never say to my face for one, and for two, in person when you must defend yourself you do it to the death... you don't let someone kill you without doing your best to kill them for taking the trouble to attack you. I didn't defend Zimmerman's violations of protocol anymore that I defend Trayvon dippin off in a hoody or attacking anyone, or defending Trayvon for grabbing for the officer's weapon. @ShekinahMitchell A gash doesn't always require a bandage and a broken nose does not always mean the nose was busted: when the nose busts, the cartilage in the tip is smashed along with the blood vessels. If Zimmerman was busted higher up on the face, which suggests close struggle, as Trayvon had him pinned on the ground according to the other eye witness account that had Zimmerman screaming for help when that person called 9-1-1, Trayvon would have been palming the top of his nose, not being able to land direct punches as Trayvon had the man flailing under him. When I said pillow case over Zimmerman's head, I meant KKK... Zimmerman ain't even white like Diane Sawyer and ABC first reported, let alone a member of that, so the claim of race and this being a hate crime doesn't add up when Zimmerman has no violent record or race related crimes. You mean to tell me that a white person can't go ape shit? There are white monkeys in the wild too, you don't have to be black to be the n-word, and Zimmerman didn't call Trayvon the n-word. I don't see the surveillance video you saw: the tape of the Zimmerman questioning was not at the time of the incident nor has it been verified when it took place. That must be released to the public. Yes, I have addressed the points you made and they are not valid in light of the total facts. Zimmerman was designated by the Sheriff's Dept. to act as an officer. Community watch is a limited role in most states, but you are to respect them as an extension of the Sheriff's Dept. -- I mean, I don't expect you to know that or understand that though, but most people who are black are racist, they will tell you: "that's the white man's law, and I don't have to follow it". You can follow someone and avoid contact with them. So I ask again: why did Trayvon have physical contact with Zimmerman being pinned underneath him as the written witness account verifies? @Oouchie ABC did air part of the 9-1-1 call, but they did not air all 3 calls, IN ENTIRETY. The first call Zimmerman made to the non-emergency number, to report the tip of a suspect in the area for burglary. He then called 9-1-1 either when they did not call dispatch or when he could no longer follow Trayvon without there being possible confrontation, as Trayvon knew Zimmerman was watching and following him. If someone is watching and following me, I can't attack them, just because they are if they aren't threatening my person. The 3rd 9-1-1 call was the witness who called after Trayvon had Zimmerman pinned, punching him and such, and he would not get off of him, and it was Zimmerman screaming HELP, HELP, HELP, not Trayvon screaming it, as ABC made it out on the news. Also: why did Trayvon's girlfriend not call 9-1-1 herself, but just told Trayvon to run. Why run? Y'all claim he wasn't doing nothing, and the witness made the statement he pinned Zimmerman to the ground and kept on punching him with blows to the face. I don't call that doing nothing.

Aja Brooks No let me now talk out feelings: it is my feeling that this is racially sensationalized, because it is. Not because I sensationalized it. It is a serious thing that Trayvon is dead, and much more serious than to walk around like a fool, with a hoody and skittles and tea, screaming 'I'm Trayvon Martin'. The law is not in the streets, all that is for show. No one is saying you can't protest, but it looks dumb as hell to be out there protesting when facts are stubborn things. If you want to change the law, you get involved and change the law on paper. Everyone has the right to be out in the street and to keep their hands to themselves, it doesn't matter what their race is.

The Sheriff's Department knew who he was, why he was out there, and that there were problems and break-ins over the past year. It is the Press painting a vigilante picture and then portraying the man as a racist. Yes, the truth must be said. It is not right for ABC to make it out like Zimmerman used the N-WORD: if he said f'in coon, he said f'in coon... just like black people call cops f'in pigs. It is the First Amendment, it is censorship, and it is slander to make statements contrary to what was said, to take advantage of bleeping it out on tv.

Aja Brooks I am Cherokee, I don't think you are a coon just because you're black: the use of the word coon means stealing something, as that is what coons do in the wild. We are real big into animals, spirits, totems, so forth. You have never acted like a coon or a nigger toward me, and I would never treat you that way or even speak to you on Twitter if I was a racist or biased because of race.

If I did not feel you were my equal, I would not discuss this with you, because I would see you as lesser than me, and not worth my time or thought that your opinions and feelings didn't matter. They do matter --- but I don't want you to be lead around by the mouth, by the Press, when we need to hear the findings of the court. I am the one who pushed for that hearing, because Zimmerman violated protocol. The proper way is for it to be heard, so the family is not shut out from information that the police department would not readily release as they seemed to do initially. We have rights, you know? The police can not just withhold public information just because they feel like it, without an order from the judge.

You would never understand as a Cherokee, how tired I am of white people exploiting monetary gain through politics and how equally tired I am of blacks thinking that they run this and we owe them something.... I would love to deport everyone back to Africa who didn't work and who blamed everyone for their problems. I am not downplaying this situation, but it is hyped by the media. I never disagreed that Zimmerman violated protocol, but what Trayvon did was not right either. I know, but what you went through there is not the same everywhere, and it is not the same for each person. You had it rougher than Trayvon, but you're still here... why? Because you think before you act, and you think about what you say.

Really can't believe what I've read on this page. It's absolutely shocking and unacceptable! This is a so sad and I just understand the thinking of some about this sensitive case. Not here to beat up on anyone but I just want whoever thinks that justice is being served in this case to seriously think about how in the hell TRAYVON could be the blame for his own death? If someone my son didn't know approached him at night in the rain and he's unarmed, alone, and in the rain, he's been taught to defend himself as-well because there are a lot of crazies our there.... To think Trayvon started this altercation is just flat out stupid!

My kids are smart, we don't get welfare and nobody and I emphasize this.....NOBODY....better not make them feel ashamed to be BLACK!!!! For you to say that Trayvon was wrong for what he done....B!tch you was not there so what the fuck do you know. Apparently you don't have kids. I am aware that we are ALL entitled to our own opinion, but how would you feel if that was your child? I know that could have easily been my child and I sympathize with the parents of Trayvon. George Zimmerman did not have no reason to keep following him after the cops told him not too. And when George asked him where he was going, he didn't have to answer that. Who the fuck is George? We do have a right to plead the fifth even when the law is involved. If he got so many witnesses coming forth on his behalf, why did it take a month for their punk ass to come forth. And as far as BLACK people thinking they own and run everything, B!tch, please!!!! WE know all about the struggle. Ya'll just started struggling...WE been doing it our whole lives. George Zimmerman don't deserve the air he breathe!!!!! And then his friend, Frank Taffe wants to come forth and say that he said it was "fuckin cold" instead of" Fuckin coon" which is what I heard with my ears. It was fuckin 62 degrees. Meditate on that!!!

FACT: you are full of shit. WHAT IS FOOLISH IS BLACK PEOPLE THINKING THAT THEIR OPINION IS THE ONLY OPINION, IT IS THE RIGHT OPINION, AND THAT NO ONE CAN THINK DIFFERENTLY THAN BLACK PEOPLE ON TRAYVON MARTIN OR CHALLENGE THAT OPINION IN A COURT OF LAW. The Sanford Police Department has to answer for why 3 areas of protocol were violated, and if Zimmerman's statement is perjury. That still doesn't mean he'll be charged for a hate crime or for being a racist murderer! I'm not playing a prank, I just don't tolerate racism because you are black or from anyone who is black because I should not pity racist ignorant people or NOT CALL IT WHAT IT IS, because that is how they are acting in the other posts, but I will pray for all of you: especially Shakeshia, Bridget, and Tiffany. It was just as wrong for Trayvon to pin Zimmerman to the ground and beat a grown man. Trayvon took his pride, and Zimmerman took his life. In Hispanic culture if you don't have your word and your pride, YOU ARE NOTHING and you might as well be dead! There was nothing that Trayvon could do once he was whaling on Zimmerman. Zimmerman is not white like you think, and Zimmerman as a Hispanic, has no ties to hate crime or a record of race-related charges. We MUST hear the evidence as to why there was not sufficient evidence to charge Zimmerman to begin with, and why there is a witness statement of Trayvon pummeling him.

I will be sure to pray for you because I don't want my kids thinking it is okay to judge a man for being right by the color of his skin, but by his actual deeds. No, the KKK is not the people of the Tea Party. There are many black Conservatives, and many of us who are astounded to hear that a White Supremacist is running for Office. That was the link, not what you want to make it out to be @Shakeshia. Do me a favor @Meka try to not be a racist before all of you keep making racist allegations of others, because y'all are indeed racists. There is no crime in not liking white people, but Zimmerman is not white, he is Hispanic. You don't have to agree with how how I see it, but the facts are the facts and racism dies in the face of truth. Yes Meka, I am Cherokee, and I have many more friends that you do, and what makes me above you is that I don't act like you do, like what you are. ‎@JenniferSims What concerns me is that after 12yrs. of serving your country that you didn't learn anything in the military about protocol, rule of law, and due process of law.... no one is letting him get away with murder, because his intentions were not to kill Trayvon, as he only defended himself when Trayvon had him pinned to the ground and swinging on him. Jennifer Sims, you signed on the dotted line to defend a country that gives you the right to free speech, you didn't do that for me personally as you do not know me, so I do not owe you the respect to withdraw my remarks concerning the conduct of Briget, Tiffany, and Shakeshia. I have the right to free speech for being a citizen of this country and exercising my First Amendment rights, because both of grandfathers actually fought in WWI and WWII before you were even thought of! Zimmerman used the word f-in' coon, not the n-word. I reserve the n-word for when people abuse the privilege of civility and they are acting accordingly. For you though, hypocrite will do just fine. That is color neutral and just as equally repulsive.

Troy Davis gets executed for lack of evidence on some "I think" it was him who killed a "white" cop. He fits the description.... He's black! And ever since President Obama got into office; governors like Arizona, Michigan, Alabama start trippin wanting illegal immigrants to be deported. Is it because black, brown, yellow, and some whites didn't vote for McCain? Hmmmm. I mean racism isn't going to stop. Just look at the comment made by Aja Brooks "with the back to Africa" statement. No it is because dead people and mickey mouse voted for Obama, and that he's impeached. Yes, unlike you, I did come from here: my line is descended from the Cherokee. Your statements about history belie the fact your African kings betrayed you and sold you as slaves, because they could not care for you and you were starving. Also, it wasn't the hoody that killed Trayvon, it was the fact he had contact with someone designated by the police department. You can not allege manslaughter wherein Zimmerman's head/face sustained injury. I also say that he was not culpable of manslaughter under self-defense http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manslaughter You mean to tell me another man runs up on you, white, black, or indifferent, and you can't get out from under him, you won't shoot?? Manslaughter is a legal term for the killing of a human being, in a manner considered by law as less culpable than murder. The distinction between murder and manslaughter is said to have first been made by the Ancient Athenian lawmaker Draco in the 7th century BC.[1]

At least 31 incidents were reported in Acworth, Kennesaw and in unincorporated Cobb County, Acworth police Major Wayne Dennard said.

The officers watched the Impala and waited on the driver to return.
Dennard said that after interviewing the Impala driver, 17-year-old Caleb Fields, “it was determined that he, along with two others, Andrew Morgan, 18 and Christopher Kellner, 22, were involved in the criminal activity.”
Fields was arrested at the Wal-Mart, and the other two were arrested at Morgan’s home in Acworth. Each was charged with criminal damage to property, and Fields was also charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

High court rules strip search reasonable after traffic stop

    Albert Florence challenged 'disgusting' ordeal

    Author: By Bill Mears CNN
Published On: Apr 02 2012 09:22:14 AM CDT  Updated On: Apr 02 2012 02:48:38 PM CDTWASHINGTON (CNN) -
A New Jersey man who was strip searched in prison after being accused of failing to pay a traffic fine lost his Supreme Court appeal Monday.
The 5-4 divided court found two county jails "struck a reasonable balance between inmate privacy and the needs of the (correctional) institution."
The conservative majority concluded a "reasonable suspicion" standard could be applied when conducting examinations of newly admitted prisoners.

Albert Florence said he was subjected to what he called a pair of intrusive, humiliating searches six years ago.
But Justice Anthony Kennedy, writing for the court, said the policy was designed in part to protect the safety of Florence and other inmates.
"Exempting people arrested for minor offenses from a standard search protocol thus may put them at greater risk and result in more contraband being brought into the detention facility," said Kennedy. "This is a substantial reason not to mandate the exception (Florence) seeks as a matter of constitutional law."
Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas, and Samuel Alito supported all or part of Kennedy's opinion.
Florence was challenging Burlington County rules allowing routine strip searches of everyone arrested, even for minor offenses, regardless of the circumstances.
The man was a passenger in his family's sport utility vehicle when it was stopped by a New Jersey state trooper in March 2005. His then-pregnant wife was driving and their 4-year-old son was in the back seat as they headed to a Sunday dinner.
Since Florence was the vehicle's registered owner, the officer ran his identification and discovered a bench warrant for an outstanding fine. He had already paid the fine and carried a letter attesting to that fact, since he claimed he had been stopped on several previous occasions. Nevertheless, the 35-year-old Bordentown resident was handcuffed and arrested, then taken to the jail in Burlington County, in the central part of the state.
Court records show Florence was subjected to an invasive strip and visual body-cavity search. He was then held for six days in the county lockup before being transferred to a Newark correctional facility, where, he claims, he was subjected to another more intrusive search before being placed in the general prison population.
"It was very disgusting. It was just a bad, bad experience," he told CNN's Kate Bolduan recently. "I was just told, 'Do as you're told.' Wash in this disgusting soap and obey the directions of the officer who was instructing me to turn around, lift my genitals up, turn around, and squat."
The next day a magistrate freed Florence, confirming what he had insisted all along, that the fine had been paid.
Florence then sued, claiming the search protocols violated his Fourth Amendment rights, since neither jail reasonably suspected he presented a security threat, or was smuggling contraband. But a federal appeals court in Philadelphia last year ruled the blanket search policy proper.
"The 5-4 decision was as close as we could get with excellent dissent in this political climate of recent law for indefinite detention of citizens without trial that shaves away our constitutional rights every day," said Susan Chana Lask, Florence's New York-based attorney. "Politics and the Constitution should not be mixed."
Kennedy said this ruling was limited, and that the court need not consider other more invasive prison searches, such as those involving touching an inmate, and for those detainees held in solitary confinement.
In dissent, Justice Stephen Breyer said, "I cannot find justification for the strip search policy at issue here -- a policy that would subject those arrested for minor offenses to serious invasions of their privacy."
Another one of Florence's lawyers, Thomas Goldstein, had urged the court to rely on earlier precedent forcing jailers to use individualized discretion before searching inmates. "If the jail has the facts, as it did here, to affirmatively determine that there is no reasonable suspicion, which is what they decided about Mr. Florence," he said, "then it is an extraordinary intrusion on dignity and autonomy to strip him naked when they have no reason to do so."
But the county's attorney, Carter Phillips, said prison officials know their security system best. Noting that jail is "without question one of the most dangerous, most risky environments," he said he hoped the court would not ask "individual jailers to make decisions where they clearly will not have the kind of information" they would need and "where if they make a judgment wrong in either direction, all it means is litigation."
Federal courts before the September 11, 2001, terror attacks had been at odds over the constitutionality of strip searches. The Constitution's Fourth Amendment protects against "unreasonable searches and seizures."
The Supreme Court in 1979, in what is called the Bell precedent, upheld the kind of search Florence had undergone for prisoners who had contact visits with outsiders. Using a balancing test, the justices said the prison's security interest justified intrusion into the inmates' privacy. But subsequent appeals courts have found those arrested for minor offenses may not be strip searched unless authorities have a "reasonable suspicion" that the person may be concealing a weapon or contraband such as drugs.
In 2008, however, appeals courts in Atlanta and San Francisco found searches of every inmate coming into the prison population are justified, even without specific suspicions. Those opinions were the first of their kind since the 9/11 attacks and, along with Florence's case, now give the high court the chance to clarify an issue that a number of civil and human rights proponents have tried to highlight.
Local jails in New Jersey at the time of Florence's arrest were subject to federal monitors after allegations that minority motorists and their passengers were being unfairly targeted for police stops and arrests, sometimes called "racial profiling." Stops of that nature are not at issue in the current appeal. Florence, who is African-American, is not alleging any racial discrimination by the state or individual officers.
The case is Florence v. Board of Chosen Freeholders of the County of Burlington, New Jersey (10-945).

ADVICE FROM SOMEONE WHO KNOWS: WHEN YOU ARE BOOKED AND PROCESSED, A STRIP SEARCH NO MATTER HOW DEMEANING AND HUMILIATING, IS NECESSARY TO ENSURE THAT WEAPONS, DRUGS, CELL PHONES, AND OTHER CONTRABAND ARE NOT BEING BROUGHT INTO A JAIL.
I DO UNDERSTAND HOW THAT FEELS... HOWEVER, UNLESS YOU WERE FALSELY ARRESTED, YOU CAN NOT SUE THE POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR FALSE IMPRISONMENT. VIOLATING YOUR HABEAS CORPUS IS ENTIRELY ANOTHER MATTER THAT YOU HAVE TO ADDRESS WITH A JUDGE, NOT THE ARRESTING OFFICER. ONLY WHEN YOU ARE MISTAKEN FOR SOMEONE ELSE CAN YOU SUE, AND YOU CAN’T SUE OVER THE POLICIES AND PROCEDURES OF THE FACILITY WHEN THEY ARE PROPERLY PERFORMED AND ADMINISTERED TO YOUR PERSON.

YOU DO NOT SETTLE DISAGREEMENTS WITH THE POLICE ABOUT YOUR ARREST OR CHARGES WITH YOUR OWN BARE HANDS, EITHER.
DO NOT TOUCH A POLICE OFFICER: THEY ARE DESIGNATED BY LAW TO DO THEIR JOB WITHOUT OBSTRUCTION. AVOID SPEAKING TO AN OFFICER, IF YOU ARE UNSURE OF THE FACTS. DO NOT LISTEN TO WHAT OFFICERS PROMISE YOU, AS THEY WILL TELL YOU ANYTHING TO MAKE YOU THINK YOU WILL AVOID BEING ARRESTED AND GETTING OUT OF JAIL TIME. COOPERATE AS REQUIRED, ANSWER QUESTIONS, AND DO NOT OFFER ANY OTHER INFORMATION: NOT ALL COPS ARE AS HONEST AS YOU ARE, THOUGH THEY SHOULD BE! I PERSONALLY THINK WE SHOULD REQUIRE THAT COPS AND GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS PASS LIE DETECTOR TESTS, AS THEY ARE SWORN OFFICERS AND OFFICIALS OF THE LAW, BOUND TO UPHOLD THE VERY LAWS THEY PASS AND ENFORCE.
    GET A LAWYER:
PROMPTLY REPORT MISCONDUCT OR CORRUPTION WHEN YOU WITNESS OR SUSPECT IT TO THE GOVERNOR OR YOUR STATE OR THE FBI. EVERYONE HAS A BOSS, WE ALL ANSWER TO SOMEONE. YOUR FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH AN OFFICER AND BEING UNREASONABLE IN ATTITUDE OR CONDUCT CAN GET YOU MISTREATED, ABUSED, OR KILLED. INTERACTION WITH THE POLICE IS SERIOUS, AND YOUR FREEDOMS AND CITIZENRY MAY BE TAKEN FOR GRANTED. YOU ARE STILL A TAXPAYER, YOU ARE NOT A DOG, YOU HAVE RIGHTS: BUT SO DOES THE POLICE OFFICER. RESPECT THEM, EVEN IF THEY CHOOSE NOT TO RESPECT YOU, BECAUSE WHEN IT IS ALL OVER WITH, THEY WILL LOSE THEIR JOB AND THEY WILL WISH THEY HAD HEEDED PROTOCOL AND DUTIFULLY HEARD YOUR COMPLAINTS.

Annan tells U.N. he wants deadline for Syrian peaceReuters – 22 hrs ago

    • Kofi Annan, joint special envoy …
UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - U.N.-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan has asked the U.N. Security Council for support in implementing an April 10 deadline for Syria to partially implement his peace plan, with a full ceasefire within 48 hours thereafter, envoys said on Monday.
Annan told the 15-nation council behind closed doors that Syria has agreed to the idea of such a deadline, which would include the end of troop movements toward population centers, the withdrawal of heavy weapons and a start to the withdrawal of troops, U.N.diplomats told Reuters on condition of anonymity.
So far, however, there has been no sign of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad keeping his promise to implement Annan's six-point peace plan, which calls for an end to violence and political dialogue between the government and opposition aimed at a "political transition" for the country.
There is "no progress on the ground," a diplomat inside the meeting told Reuters in a summary of Annan's remarks.
Despite the lack of progress, Annan suggested to the council there may be the beginnings of a plan to end the year-long conflict and he urged council members to "begin consideration of deployment of an observer mission with a broad and flexible mandate," a diplomat said.
The U.N. peace keeping department has already begun contingency planning for a U.N. ceasefire monitoring mission that would have 200 to 250 unarmed observers. Such a mission would require aSecurity Council resolution.
It was not immediately clear how Russia was responding to Annan's suggestions. Russia and China vetoed two council resolutions condemning Assad's assault on pro-democracy demonstrations, which were inspired by other "Arab Spring" uprisings across the Middle East and North Africa.
The United Nations says Syrian soldiers and security forces have killed more than 9,000 people over the past 12 months. Damascus says rebels have killed 3,000 troops and police.

Syria accepts April 10 peace deadline: AnnanBy Tim Witcher | AFP – 17 hrs ago

    • A supporter of Syrian President …
UN-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan on Monday said Syrian President Bashar al-Assad had accepted an April 10 deadline to start implementing a peace plan, as more than 30 people died in new clashes.
Annan said Syria had agreed to "immediately" start pulling troops out of protest cities and complete a troop and heavy weapon withdrawal by April 10, US ambassador Susan Rice said after Annan briefed the UN Security Council.
The news came as Red Cross chief Jakob Kellenberger launched a fresh mission to Syria -- his third since last year, when Damascus launched a crackdown on anti-government protests which the UN says has left more than 9,000 dead.
Syria's UN envoy, Bashar Jaafari, confirmed the April 10 date had been agreed "by common accord" between Annan and his government.
Annan -- who briefed the 15-member Security Council by videoconference from Geneva -- however said that "no progress" had been made on reaching a ceasefire, diplomats said.
Rice said the United States and other countries doubted that Assad would carry out the new commitments.
"Past experience would lead us to be skeptical and to worry that over the next several days, that rather than a diminution of the violence we might yet again see an escalation of the violence. We certainly hope that is not so," Rice said.
The partial implementation of Annan's six-point peace plan would include a full cessation of hostilities within 48 hours of the deadline, diplomats said.
Besides a humanitarian ceasefire, Annan's plan also calls for an inclusive Syrian-led political process, the right to demonstrate, and the release of people detained arbitrarily.
US State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland also said Washington would prefer quicker implementation of the plan.
"We all want to see this happen immediately," she told reporters, as she repeated Rice's skepticism to "judge him (Assad) by his actions" on whether the plan holds.
The former UN chief said the Security Council had to start considering the deployment of an observer mission with a broad mandate to monitor events in Syria.
The Britain-based Syrian Observatory of Human Rights said Monday that 10,108 people have been killed since the uprising, inspired by Arab Spring protests that toppled long-time dictators in Tunisia and Egypt, erupted in March 2011.
The group said at least 34 people, including 16 civilians, were killed Monday as Syrian forces pressed their crackdown on dissent, pounding rebel bastions and clashing with insurgents near the Turkish border.
Russia has rejected the idea of a deadline for implementation of the peace plan, with Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov saying "ultimatums and artificial deadlines rarely help matters."
Moscow, a Soviet-era ally of the Assad regime, said only the UN Security Council, where it wields veto power, could put any time restrictions on Syria's compliance with the Annan plan.
"The demands should be put to all sides of the barricades," Lavrov said. "We intend to be friends with both sides in Syria," he said of Russia's support for Assad.
Kellenberger, the president of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), said he would meet officials including Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem and examine measures for a two-hour humanitarian ceasefire -- also a condition set out in the Annan plan.
"I am determined to see the ICRC and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent expand their presence, range and scope of activities to address the needs of vulnerable people," he said in a statement ahead of his two-day trip to Syria.
The Syrian Observatory of Human Rights has charged that the army is torching and looting rebel houses across the country in a deliberate campaign that could amount to crimes against humanity.
But in Istanbul on Sunday, the so-called Friends of Syria group -- Arab League members and nations including the United States, France and Germany -- steered clear of backing opposition appeals for arms.
The Syrian National Council, the main opposition group in exile funded by Gulf Arab states, said it would pay the salaries of rebel fighters seeking to oust Assad.
The US State Department also said Monday it would offer an initial $1.25 million to fund a new initiative announced by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Sunday to train Syrian investigators and document alleged abuses.
The project, said Nuland, would be primarily aimed at "regime elements who are continuing not only to obey the Assad orders to fire on their own people, but are also committing gross abuses themselves."
Official Syrian media mocked the Sunday meeting, with one newspaper saying the gathering of what it called the "Enemies of Syria" was a failure.
"Despite all the hype, the conference of the 'Enemies of Syria' produced only meager results," said Al-Baath, mouthpiece of Assad's ruling party of the same name.

SYRIA IS NOW ON OUR RADAR FOR TERRORIST ACTIVITY: NOT THE SYRIAN GOVERNMENT, NOT THE PEOPLE WHO ARE REBELLING AGAINST THEIR GOVERNMENT, BUT THOSE WHO HAVE INFILTRATED SYRIA SINCE THE UPRISING:

As with all great revolutions, the Syrian uprising has now been infiltrated by a radical Muslim cleric Zahed from Lebanon, and as more people continue to die despite Kofi Annan's brokered peace solution, the radicals are now trying to exploit what started as a peaceful revolution to their own means and agenda: http://news.yahoo.com/islamists-foothold-syria-revolt-130631460.html

BEIRUT (Reuters) - Sheikh Abu Abdullah Zahed, a Lebanese Muslim cleric with influence amongst radical youth, is part of a growing effort to push the uprising in Syria towards militant Islam.
Hardline Sunni Muslims in Lebanon are maneuvering for influence over Syrians across the border who have spent the last year fighting to topple President Bashar al-Assad.
"At first Syrians called on the West and NATO. Now they are calling on God," said Zahed, sitting in his library, where black Islamic flags hang on the walls.
As opposition groups abroad squabble over politics and Assad's army pounds rebellious cities, Muslim hardliners want to make religion the unifying basis of the revolt.
Radical Islamist elements are still on the fringe, but that's enough to make a headache for opposition activists who are struggling to convince Syrian minorities to support a revolt led mostly by the country's Sunni majority.
Foreign powers joining exile opposition leaders at a "Friends of Syria" meeting in Istanbul this week will also want proof of whom exactly they are making friends with, if they are ever to consider arming rebel forces.
"We don't want to accidentally wind up supporting extremist groups," said Joseph Holliday, of the Institute for the Study of War, in Washington. "The fundamental question is: What happens in the future? And does our involvement make this turn better or worse?"
Some activists are already uneasy about a series of car bombs that hit Syria's two main cities. An unknown group called Al-Nusra Front claimed the attacks on a website that posts messages from many al Qaeda branches.
"There is a growing radical presence inside Syria and I think they were behind the bombings. I'm afraid controlling them could be a losing battle," said an activist. He asked not to be named for fear of angering fellow opposition members, who are reluctant to discuss potential radical infiltration.
    STEREOTYPED BY BEARDS
Zahed, a Lebanese sheikh with a long beard and a leather jacket over his blue robe, sits in front of shelves of gold embossed religious books. He offers the Islamic flags that hang behind him to people who join anti-Assad protests in his hometown of Tripoli.
"At first no one raised anything other than the Syrian flag. Now some are raising the Islamic flag," Zahed said.
Assad has long raised the specter of Islamic extremism and says "terrorists" are behind Syria's bloody uprising.
Activists say they lead a grassroots, inclusive movement but are unfairly stereotyped because many of them are religious.
"I want a pluralistic state that is democratic and belongs to everyone. Why are people so afraid? Yes, our revolution has Salafists, we have Islamists. Everyone is participating in the revolution," said a Syrian activist in Tripoli who calls himself al-Shami, which means "the Syrian".
He tugs on his brown, bushy beard: "Do we have to shave our beards so people don't feel threatened? We're not terrorists."
It is hard to know what impact radical groups are having in Syria, which has restricted access to journalists. But here in Lebanon there are signs they are gaining ground.
From the seaside city of Tripoli to border towns along the rocky foothills of Syria where rebels and refugees cross the frontier, Salafists are showing up in greater numbers.
When night falls on the border, dancing Syrian protesters set tires ablaze and fly their colorful independence flag. But as the flames grow higher and the night wears on, they are overtaken by young men whose black banners emblazoned in white Arabic script declare: "There is no God but God."
Members of this hardline, austere brand of Islam say they are drawn to the revolt because their religion says they should aid the oppressed.
But some clearly resent Syria's minority Alawites, an offshoot of Shi'ite Islam, to which much of Syria's powerful elite belong, including the president. Many Sunnis feel the government discriminates against them in favor of Alawites.
Some Syrian activists sheltering in Lebanon say Salafist clerics don't represent them but are taking over at rallies.
"I try to speak at protests and some sheikh comes up and takes over. These protests are for the people not the sheikhs. Then we are all accused of being Salafists and sectarians," shouts Musaab in Wadi Khaled, a farming village on the mountainous border with Syria.
Salafists say they are gaining followers because they offer food and money to refugees as well as supplying many doctors and clinics that treat wounded Syrians smuggled into Lebanon.
"The state has fallen short in terms of helping the Syrians but we are happy for it. People who come here for help will leave with more Islamic thinking," said the cleric Zahed.
    "CALL US TO JIHAD"
Some Islamists are struggling to prove that their conservative views do not make them militants who can't work with foreign powers.
The Syrian Muslim Brotherhood, the largest and most organized opposition group abroad, includes followers from many Islamic backgrounds. It is in Turkey this week meeting with foreign powers along with secular and minority leaders.
The group has set out a platform for a future Syria that is democratic and pluralistic. But it has yet to convince minority groups who are wary of the balance of power and fear Islamists will change their tone if the uprising succeeds.
But activists in Syria say it is that radicals next door that have some activists worried. They point to calls for jihad, or holy war, by some protesters.
"If the Syrians call us to jihad we will do it, God willing. The UN can call it international terrorism or whatever they want," said Sheikh Salem al-Rifai at his Tripoli mosque, as crowds of men filed out from afternoon prayers.
Minor Syrian clerics have already called jihad but many Syrian sheikhs are wary and appear to be holding off an irrevocable escalation that would allow in foreign fighters.
There are already reports of Iraqi, Libyan and Lebanese fighters entering Syria and activists say they may be motivated by Sunni sectarian loyalties.
Many Lebanese and Syrian Sunnis harbor deep resentment against Alawites and the Assad government for bloody crackdowns in both countries, particularly the late president Hafez al-Assad's crushing of a 1982 Islamist revolt in Hama. His forces razed parts of the city and killed more than 10,000.
One man's view that is eagerly awaited is exiled Adnan Arour, an influential cleric who has said Alawites loyal to Assad should be "ground into dog meat".
Last month he hinted he was close to "ringing the bell" of jihad but wanted to see more solidarity among the rebels first.
    RACE FOR ARMS
In the meantime, groups such as al Qaeda could appeal to poorly armed rebels facing tanks and artillery.
Zahed, the Lebanese sheikh, said al Qaeda sympathizers were certainly interested in Syria but he had seen no evidence that the militant network was setting up a base in Lebanon or Syria.
"Al Qaeda would need more time. It's like opening a new branch of a restaurant. You can't just show up and start right away. It takes months to find the right place and the staff."
Gulf Arab powers Saudi Arabia and Qatar have both called for arming the anti-Assad rebels. While they have not yet won wide support for this, light weapons are already being smuggled in.
Some analysts say it is time to arm the rebels to stop radicals from gaining ground. But skeptics say there is no guarantee that rebels will not turn against their benefactors.
Al-Shami, who plans to leave Lebanon to join a rebel unit, is suspicious of outside involvement.
"We don't want outsiders to lead our revolution, not secular, not Muslim Brotherhood, not Salafists," he said.
But that doesn't mean they won't accept help. "We are drowning right now," he said. "If someone reaches out his hand to me, I will take it."
